Dr. Mahtab Singh
Government College for Girls Bastli, District Karnal has been established by the Government of Haryana in the year 2019 under “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” program with Arts and Commerce Faculty to encourage higher education among the girls of rural area of district Karnal. The college building is under construction at village Bastli Karnal-Kaithal State Highway No.8 and at present the college is running temporarily in the building of Government Senior Secondary School Bastli.
Karnal headquarter is 40 kms far from the college and about 35 kms from the Kaithal headquarter. Nissing is the only one town near this college, where there is no any government college. There are about 35-40 villages around the college in which about 15-16 Government Senior Secondary Schools are located. Before establishing the college, girl students had to go to Karnal or Kaithal headquarters colleges for admission in which many girls were unable to continue their higher education because of the far distance. It will prove to be a milestone in the future for higher education amongst girls. According to the beliefs of the rurals the Bastli village is known as the birthplace of Maharishi Ved Vyas ji. The government's slogan of 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' has a great impact among the villagers. Due to which the parents keep in touch with the college for admission. Due to the unavailability of college building of its own, various vocational courses and post-graduation classes for girls are not possible at present, but in the near future, it is my firm belief that the girls of this college will register their presence in the field of higher education. I assure to all parents and girls I would like to leave no stone unturned for all possible efforts for the all round development of the girl students. I have full faith in all our hardworking teaching and non-teaching staff that they will always march ahead with teamwork spirit to take the college to new heights. I heartily congratulate all the girl students who have taken admission in the new session 2022-23 and wish them a bright future ahead.
